WASHINGTON (CBS DC) — Republicans would like to see another Bush run for the White House.
According to the latest CBS News/New York Times Poll, 41 percent of Republicans want to see former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush run for the White House in 2016. Twenty-seven percent of Republicans polled said they would not want to see him run.
Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky came in second at 39 percent, while Sen. Marco Rubio (32 percent), New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (31 percent), and Sen. Ted Cruz (24 percent) rounded out the top 5 among Republicans. Interestingly, 41 percent of Republican participants said they would not want to see Christie run for president.
Among Democrats, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton finished first in a landslide as a whopping 82 percent wanted to see her run for president. Vice President Joe Biden came in second among Democrats at 42 percent, but 39 percent of those polled said they do not want to see him run for the White House again.
Rounding out the top five eres Sen. Elizabeth Warren at 22 percent, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo at 17 percent and Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley at 3 percent.
Among independents, 50 percent want Clinton to run while 30 percent are pulling for Paul.
The poll was conducted between Feb. 19-23 among 1,644 American adults.
